Comparative study of adaptive beam-steering and adaptive modulation-assisted dynamic channel allocation algorithms

چکیده
A range of dynamic channel allocation (DCA) algorithms, namely, distributed control and locally distributed control assisted DCA arrangements, are studied comparatively. The so-called locally optimized least interference algorithm (LOLIA) emerges as one of the best candidates for future mobile systems, supporting more than twice the number of subscribers in comparison to conventional fixed channel allocation (FCA). It can also cope with unexpected large increases in teletraffic demands while requiring no tedious frequency planning. This is achieved at the cost of more complex call setup and control, and the requirement of fast backbone networks for base station–base station signalling. Adaptive antennas are shown to significantly enhance the capacity of both the LOLIA and FCA-based networks, especially when used in conjunction with adaptive modulation techniques.

Empirical Mode Decomposition based Adaptive Filtering for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Channel Estimation
This paper presents an empirical mode decomposition (EMD) based adaptive filter (AF) for channel estimation in OFDM system. In this method, length of channel impulse response (CIR) is first approximated using Akaike information criterion (AIC). Then, CIR is estimated using adaptive filter with EMD decomposed IMF of the received OFDM symbol. The correlation and kurtosis measures are used to sel...
متن کاملDynamic channel allocation techniques using adaptive modulation and adaptive antennas
This contribution studies the impact of adaptive quadrature amplitude modulation (AQAM) on network performance when applied to a cellular network, using adaptive antennas in conjunction with both fixed channel allocation (FCA) and locally distributed dynamic channel allocation (DCA) schemes. The performance advantages of using adaptive modulation are investigated in terms of the overall network...
متن کاملAdaptive call admission control and resource allocation in multi server wireless/cellular network
The ever increasing demand of the subscribers has put pressure on the capacity of wireless networks around the world. To utilize the scare resources, in the present paper we propose an optimal allocation scheme for an integrated wireless/cellular model with handoff priority and handoff guarantee services. The suggested algorithm optimally allocates the resources in each cell and dynamically adj...

This paper aims at investigating the superiority of power allocation strategies, based on calculus of variations in a point-to-point two-way relay-assisted channel incorporating the amplify and forward strategy. Single and multilayer coding strategies for two cases of having and not having the channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters are studied, respectively. Using the notion of cal...

A low complexity dynamic subcarrier and power allocation methodology for downlink communication in an OFDM-based multiuser environment is developed. The problem of maximizing overall capacity with constraints on total power consumption, bit error rate and data rate proportionality among users requiring different QOS specifications is formulated. Assuming perfect knowledge of the instantaneo...
